Brief Answer:
Discuss corticosteroid with you doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have read your query.

First thing I want to say that you shouldn't stop taking statins by yourself without visiting your doctor.

Secondly, statin drug which your doctor had prescribed you must be for your lipid control, now what drug you are taking in place of that.

Although you are not comfortable with statins it may be possible that your doctor may start corticosteroid plus methotrexate, to enhance your performance.

If I am your treating doctor then I would advise corticosteroids in addition, rather than stopping statin at once, although statin cause muscle related problems.

Secondly I would advise you specialized exercise therapy depending upon your physical examination which may supplement the treatment to enhance quality of life.

I hope you got the answer.

Thanks,
