What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?
not significant change so would not cause any issues, need to stop progress
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
The increase is only mild at this time , main treatment would .
The normal range can vary slightly from one lab to the next but in general, the upper limit of AST is approx 40 and ALT 56.
The most common causes are: (1) alcohol use
(2)NON alcoholic fatty liver disease- associated with diet and low activity level. There is fat build up in the liver (most often carbs stored as fat). This fat can cause inflammation of the liver which can progress
Diet changes, activity and in some cases, the use of statins can help prevent any further damage and fat build up
(3)infection (hepatitis)- would normally have other symptoms
(4)trauma to the liver
(5)side effect of medications- the same medications (statins) that can be used to help persons with fatty liver can sometimes cause temporary increase in liver enzymes in other persons
AS mentioned, the increase is mild and would not normally be associated with any significant problems
If you use a significant amount of alcohol then likely related to this and decreasing alcohol would help prevent any further damage.
IF this is not the case, then likely related to NON alcoholic fatty liver (unless on meds that would cause it or have infection)- Diet and activity would help here
I hope this helps , feel free to ask any other questions
