What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 6 May 2017
Question: I have recently taken a blood test for an insurance policy and they are alarmed by my total cholesterool. It is over 300 mostly caused by the high Hdl or good choslesteral being very abnormally high. My low is not perfect either but it's the high hdl that is making to total so alarmingly high. I have spoken to my physician about this issue and he is resistant to place me on statins because I have no risk factors. I don't smoke, drink, eat fatty or fried foods and have no heart disease on either side of my family. S?hould I look into this further

Brief Answer:
Reports need to be seen

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

After going through your medical query I understand your concern. Am Dr Bhanu Partap and I am a Cardiology practitioner. Here I will try to help you figure out this issue.

First of all I wanna tell you that HDL is basically cardio protective cholesterol which we commonly call as good cholesterol. Low level of this in any individual make him or her prone for cardiac event like atherosclerosis or MI. The normal recommended range of HDL in females are 50-60 mg/dl.

From your above details it seems like you are telling that it's just your HDL that is only elevated. I would highly recommend you to kindly upload your lipid profile reports for me to evaluate them and then guide you in a right direction.

You can upload the reports from your dashboard. You can also send them at YYYY@YYYY and address it to my name Dr Bhanu Partap.

I will be happy to help

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu partap
