What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

Posted on Tue, 10 Oct 2017
Question: I have just completed a blood test in which it was determined that by total Billrubin is 19 and that my Gamma GT is 153. I suspect that excessive alcohol consumption before the test is the likely cause. Other than committing to a period of abstinence with respect to alcohol, are there other things I could/should be doing to lower these scores.

Brief Answer:
monitor over the counter meds, healthy diet

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Alchol abstinence is the main way that you can lower your liver enzyme levels.

Other possible ways to lower levels include: (1)look at your use of any over the counter medications that may affect the liver such as paracetamol, also review any supplements
(2)diet and activity can help prevent liver injury from other sources. There is a condition called non alcoholic fatty liver where there is build up of fat in the liver from poor diet and inadequate activity.
The fat then cause inflammation and damage to the liver.

By using a healthy diet, you would prevent additional damage to the liver. This refers to the use of allowed vegetables (since on warfarin), fruits , whole grain. Reducing sodas/juices, processed foods, sugary foods.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
