Brief Answer:
Interstitial markings in bases are normal age related changes in your X ray

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
There are large and small airways in the chest X ray. The smaller ones are usually not seen in the periphery of the lung including the bases due to their size. The small airways further end in tiny air sacs which are usually not visible in a young healthy adult. These small air ways and air sacs become prominent due to wall thickening with advancing age and are seen more clearly, especially in the lung bases. This pattern is called increased interstitial markings in the lung bases. At your age of 71 years, these can be considered acceptable.

The words no free fluid, free air or significant lymphadenopathy are part of normal findings.

Vascular structures are unremarkable shows that the heart and blood vessels are normal.

In conclusion the chest X ray findings do not show any particular concern.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
