What Does My Follicular Study Test Report Indicate?
Question: Hi I am trying for pregnancy. Here are my follicular study report. 12th day no of follicle 5; largest 18x 17 mm , lt ovary no of follicles 5; largest 11x 10 mm, et thick 6.2 mm; 14th day rt ovary 6 follicle. 25x21 mm, lt 5 follicle 13x10 mm et thick 7.5 mm ; 15 th day rt ovary 5 follicles haemorrhagic cyst 38x 32 mm, lt ovary 5 follicle 13 x 11 mm et thick 9.9 mm pod present. My question is there any chance of eggto be ruptured, or is it already ruptured, is there any chances of pregnancy in this cycle. Please clarify

Hi thanks for your reply. Only those values are mentioned in the report in a tabular colum no additional details are there in report. Initially right ovary had 6 follicles on 14 th day scan and on 15 th day 5 follicles with pod present also haemorrhagic cyst.

The results seem to be equivocal.
POD fluid represents ovulation has occurred.
Following ovulation, the ruptured follicle suddenly disappears or even regress in size.But in you case size has increased to 38/32 mm hemorrhagic cyst.This goes against the possible ovulation.
Let me explain certain things to you in detail--
Sometimes even in normal ovulation, blood can accumulate within the ruptured follicle, but cyst formation of this size-38/32 is unlikely.
You need to differentiate this condition from unruptured-anovulatory dominant follicle which can convert into cyst later-The LUF(luteinizing unrupured follicle) syndrome is characterized by a preovulatory follicle that grows and develops in a normal pattern but does not collapse at the expected time of ovulation. Ovulation does not, in fact, occur and the oocyte presumably remains trapped within the follicle.
Hence to differentiate between the two, you need to get a repeat Follicular ultrasound with a Colour Doppler Imaging study of the Ovary today.This will accurately help to tell you if ovulation has already occurred or not, since corpus luteum is formed if ovulation and pregnancy have occurred successfully.This Corpus luteum has distinct blood flow and sonographic signs.
