Brief Answer:
further tests required

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Occult blood positive means that there was some source of bleeding in gastrointestinal tract. In your age, most common causes are internal hemorrhoids, polyps, food allergies or irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel diseases. More serious diagnoses are rare, but possible. If blood in stool is the only sign and you have normal red blood count then you dont need to be concerned, but if this is associated with abdominal pain, bloating , weight loss and mucous in stool then you should do colonoscopy to rule out inflammatory bowel disorders such as Crohns or ulcerative colitis. Wish you good health. Regards

Hi.

Doc thanks for the kind reply, i dont have pain but i gases passing most of the time and while passing stool no pain or even after no pain , just once i blue moon i feel pain in rectum which goes away after i pass gas several time. One of the dr i have consulted with has said that i have IBS and gases problem. My weight is stable at 79 from last 9 months and i do feel hungry. I had this blood stool test 3 month back which was negative and hpylori test in blood and stool which was negative again, i feel little cramps before passing gas which is not everytime. Rare pain in abdomen and colon just irritating some times and vibrates i think due to gas and ultra sound was normal which i did 2 weeks back. Should i have another test for stool blood ?

Brief Answer:
yes, but after some time

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Yes you should but wait for 1-2 weeks since if this was just angiodysplasie or broken small vessel in colon then occult blood test may be positive for up to 2-3 weeks. So I suggest to wait for 2 weeks and then repeat stool test and check your red blood count. If there is pathologic finding again then you need to do colonoscopy. Ultrasound is not very accurate in colon disorders.

Thanks doc, main issue is my gases that sometimes dont even let me sleep comfortably , i have to pass gas again and again and i feel like maybe i have to pass stool but its just gas and i cant eat fried food as when ever i eat fried foods stool gets distrubed and im unable to avacuate completely in washroom, and as i said rectum severe pain once every month which wakes me up from sleep. I avoid many kinds of food so that my stool passes normaly even fizzy drinks i dont drink them, only water and sometime fresh juice. Whatfood to avoid for gases ???

Brief Answer:
hi

Detailed Answer:
First, avoid carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and smoking.
Second, there is plenty of food that cause gasses and these should be reduced in your diet. These are most commoh: bean, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, apples, peaches, pears, and prunes, cyndies, onion, chewing gum. Also you ned to avoid fried food and too salty food.
Always try to eat boiled meat and boiled potato.
You may have IBD that complicates all this, but it should be possible to regulate it with diet.
