Question: my sis diagnoised with cyst with papillary projection and vascularity seen arising from left ovary possibly a papillary cyst adenoma. She is 32 yrs old and she is pregnant. Please advice wats the conclusion?

Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The ovarian cyst she is having is likely to be malignant and therefore she should get operated as soon as possible, as malignancy can spread.
She should be operated at a centre where facility for frozen section pathology of the cyst intraoperatively is present, so that appropriate treatment and surgery can be done.
It is not prudent to wait till 14 weeks in this case.

But since she is pregnant and she is in 6th week, getting operated at this trimester, is not risk for abortion?? Doc told to wait till 14th week, ie in another two months,by April 1st week, we can get it operated. Please advice..how should we go about it

Hi dear,
The risk of abortion is definitely high during surgery.
However, maternal health cannot be compromised because of this, because if it turns out to be malignant, then it can spread rapidly in next2 months.
You should get her CA 125 done to further confirm whether malignancy is there.
