Posted on Fri, 27 Jan 2017
Question: Hi doctor, below is my report. and i was a regular daily drinker from last 2years. and my age is 32. and i got my ultrasound done 4 months back and it was normal. As i was also having some stool problem. and after getting the blood report i immediately stopped drinking and my stool also became normal within 3days. As please suggest that its was due to alcohol intake. do you think is there any more precautions to be taken. and how long it would take to my GGT and AST to be normal. And as of now I have not taken any medicin.

Brief Answer:
It may take months

Detailed Answer:
Dear Shashwat,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I read your query and seen your reports.

The Liver enzyme abnormality is typical of alcohol abuse (SGPT>SGOT) and likely to stay like this for months and even some time one to three years. As I can see there are blood parameters which are indicative of chronic alcohol abuse there is good chance that it will take at least 6-12 months to return to normal.

Regarding the extra precaution there is need to stay healthy and follow regular exercise schedule while avoiding high fat diets. The most important thing is to stay away from alcohol and that will be sufficient for 90% of occasions.

Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

From the available description it appears that you have vaginismus a condition characterised by involuntary contraction of outer one third of vagina.

Here the cause is not extra sensation which can be numbed with use of local anaesthetic so there is little role of numbing gel, if any. However anti anxiety medications can help to some extent in this condition. I mean to say that there is little hope, if any with the numbing gel.

I understand you tried various methods of foreplay but I will request to do it following way.

Have a good foreplay and ask your husband to refrain from trying penetrative sex but only use finger or other smaller objects once you feel there is lubrication. Have this regularly for a period of 15 days and than use somewhat larger objects or two fingers. Again after 15 days have a talk with me for next course of action.

I hope this helps you.

Brief Answer:
There is no scope for further alcohol intake

Detailed Answer:
Dear Shashwat,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

Yes I am sure that the pattern is clearly indicative of alcohol abuse and there is no scope for further alcohol intake provided you want healthy life.

The reports on this indicate that there is significant damage although within limits but if there is further alcohol intake you may get accelerated damage.

I hope this helps you further.
Thanks again.

Brief Answer:
These are normal fluctuations

Detailed Answer:
Dear Shashwat,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

The changes observed over the last week is normal fluctuations most probably due to different reagents used in laboratory and do not indicate any significant abnormality. In the test processing there is always possibility for error and it is possible that either earlier or current report is with error which can be ignored rather than taking it at face value.

Smoking is unlikely to affect GGT and SGPT and unlikely cause for current test abnormality. Having said this I like to request you to stop smoking as smoking is associated with multiple adverse effects and many of them are irreversible after a certain limit.

I hope this helps you further.
