What Does My Liver Function Test Report Indicate?
Question: MY SGPT -130U/L,SGOT- 64.S.ALKALINE PHOSPHATES 81
Brief Answer:
Could be due to infective hepatitis
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I have gone through the attached report. I need to ask you the reason for seeking medical assistance and for getting the blood tested. It is important to know the complaints. The bilirubin level also seems slightly raised. It could indicate a viral hepatitis but I would need details to be able to correlate. Also mention if you are an alcoholic.
I would await your response. Let me know if I could help further.
Regards

only normal liver test, my alcoholic consumption maximum 12 pegs in a week
Brief Answer:
Even this amount of drinking can cause damage to liver cells.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Since you have no other complaints it can be concluded with certainty that your drinking habit is taking its toll on the liver. The metabolism of alcohol, even if it is 12 pegs or less per week, is an added taxation on the liver and leads to liver cell injury/damage. It is a matter of time before fatty liver and hepatic cirrhosis sets in. The liver is offering warning signs through the mentioned liver function test. The condition will worsen if you do not stop.
