What Does My Liver Function Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Sep 2017
Question: I had several blood tests done in the last 9 months. I had a fatty liver, which I now got rid of with diet all my liver function tests have fallen. I have attached all reports, it's worrying me that my ALP keeps going on every single blood test hospital test and lab test. It is still within range but keeps going up while GGT is going down and is way below lab range this mean it's not coming from bile ducts or liver where is this ALP elevation coming from?

Brief Answer:
ALP within normal range, mild variations not to be worried about

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic,
I've reviewed the investigation report.

Your alkaline phosphatase level is within normal range. Mild variations/increase is nothing to be worried about. Alkaline phosphatase level can be affected by what you have eaten and when the testing is done.

Fatty food and testing on full stomach can affect the results. Medications like NSAIDs, antibiotics can also affect the test result. You don't need to worry. Your lab work up is within normal ranges only.

I would like to add that elevated ALP levels with normal GGT can occur in bone pathology. However, ALP will be very well elevated above normal in such cases rather than showing mild variation.

Hope this answers your question
