What Does My Mammogram Test Report Indicate?

Question: On Sept. I had a mamogram. I was told there are cysts (which has been ongoing for years). in November I experienced an thickening above the nipple (left breast) . The Dr. ordered a sonogram, and I was told it was an infection, but that it was not cancer. I have taken 2 bouts of Celecobix. which seemed to help reduce the swelling, but not completely. Now it seems the nipple has attached and the breast is still enlarged.
Brief Answer:
Inflammatory breast cancer has to be ruled out.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Breast inflammation is not always due to infection. We have to be careful in treatment of such inflammation as there is a type of cancer (inflammatory breast cancer) which can act like an inflammation.
Cysts usually should aspirated with a needle and tested.
In my opinion, you should have breast MRI to make sure there is no cancer. Ultrasound can not rule cancer out. Only biopsy with histopathology testing can do that.
I suggest you to consult oncologist just to be sure.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
