Question: After having a nuclear stress test a few days ago, I was told to stop taking flecanide immediately. I have been on this drug for 12yrs. for AFib. 50mg twice a day. I am going to be trying sotalol with a 3 day hospital stay. Will I be experiencing any withdrawal from Flecinide?

I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that this is not a high dose of flecainide.

So, it is OK to stop it. You will also start sotalol.

It will help prevent cardiac arrhythmia.

Besides, you will be under close medical supervision in the hospital during these changes in the therapy.

So, nothing bad is going to happen!

Kind regards,

Dr.Iliri
