What Does My Ultrasound Report Indicate?
MULTIPLE FIBROIDS PRESENT, DRUGS AVAILABLE.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
I would explain your report for you.
You have multiple fibroids in your uterus ( womb ).
The uterus is made up of smooth muscle, and fibroids are smooth muscle tumours, in more than 99 % of cases, these are benign, and not cancerous.
However, if they are too many, too large or cause symptoms ( such as heavy menstrual bleeding in your case ), treatment is indicated and definitely possible.
The first line of treatment involves drugs or medications.
Cyclical progesterone therapy and more advanced hormonal injections can be given to induce a menopause like state and decrease the fibroid size and number ( shrink them ) because these tumours are hormone dependent. Also, you are 48, so natural menopause is not very far, if drugs can help you tide over this phase, menopause will only make it better.
IF medical management fails, then surgery ( generally hysterectomy ) is the next step.
Regarding the back problems, further MRI should be done as suggested and consult an Orthopedic surgeon for the same.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.
YES PUSH TO SEE A SPECIALIST.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the appreciation.
I understand your frustration, however yes you should push to be seen by a Specialist.
There are disc changes , and the sooner you are evaluated and treated, the better.
I can see no ovarian problems, and the pain is clearly due to the spinal changes, and not ovarian changes.
Regarding the fibroids, try medical management first.
Take care.
