Hi Saumya mittal,
Thank you for taking my question. My father is becoming old. at that point of time he has his left leg swollen and had pain. He went through all blood tests and Ultra sonogrphy.
I stay in US and my father is in XXXXXXX My brother scanned these results and send it to me by email . I want to get more clear picture , what it means. This is what I know. I am also more curious to know, If there is any issue with the kidney or this is expected due to age. Please help to confirm.
Does my father needs to take any preventive measures. Sorry for asking 3 or more questions at the same time.

Hi
Thanks for your response.
I still don't know whether he has any prior illnesses.
Anyways, the ultrasound is indeed suggestive of initiation of kidney disease.
The cause of the kidney disease may be age or one of the prior illnesses- like diabetes.
I would suggest testing the kidney function tests and urine microalbumin.
This will show how significant the kidney disease is. Further tests may be planned accordingly.
As for as the symptoms are concerned, I don't think that is kidney related. The edema in kidney disease usually affects both legs, not one. And its usually painless. The features are more suggestive of skin condition called cellulitis or vascular event like peripheral vascular disease and DVT. This would need a arteriovenous doppler of the lower limbs.
I would like to know what the local examining doctor is thinking. Since the dr has had a chance of examining the patient, that I cannot do for obvious reasons, there may be some things that he/she has noted which may not be observable to non medical personnel.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible.
Feel free to ask a follow up query to clarify any point as may be needed.
Best of luck,
Dr Mittal

Hi Mittal,
Thank you for the detail analysis. Really appreciate it.
Yes more testing needed for Kidney functionality.
I have uploaded the Blood tests.
creatinine looks normal. i think this is part of Kidney testing . I am not sure.
As of now I will leave it like this. To my understanding based on your notes,
I understand that there could be minor damage to kidney due to Age related issue. But it is inconclusive based on sonography. More tests are needed.
Regards,
xxxxxxxx

Brief Answer:
Needs to be investigated further
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for uploading the remaining reports.
The reports do look fine.
Except urine report does show albumin.
I would suggest meeting a nephrologist in regards the kidney damage.
Yes, further tests would be needed to conclude the significance of the damage noted in ultrasound.
Best of luck, Dr Mittal
