What Does My Urine Test Report Indicate?
Question: three year old female, urine test only positive for ktones, negative for glucose. A fasting glucometer reading of 125 please advise
Brief Answer:
If the kid is otherwise active... You need not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi...I understand your concern. I will tell you when such ketonuria can occur isolatedely.
But most importantly diabetes is ruled out as blood glucose is normal.
Other causes include - Metabolic abnormalities such as renal glycosuria, or glycogen storage disease.
Dietary conditions such as starvation, fasting, high protein, or low carbohydrate diets and prolonged vomiting.
I suggest you recheck urine ketones in another week and if still persisting, get back to your Pediatrician for evaluation.
