She has degenerative spondylolisthesis with compression.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query
I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Your mother is having degenerative disc disease with spondylolisthesis of L4 over L5 and L5 over S1 with moderate level of central canal stenosis and lateral recess stenosis at level of L4,L5 and L5,S1.
Glucosamine is helpful in slowing degenerative changes and to reverse it to some extent. Mecobalamine is helpful in reducing numbness. Analgesic such as ibuprofen is helpful in pain relief. Lumbar belt is useful. She should avoid long standing and long distance walking. If not relieved by these measures then she may require operation of decompression and/ or stabilisation.
You can discuss with your doctor about it.
Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.
Wishing her a good health.
Take care.

These therapies help in pain relief.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
These therapies help in pain relief. Medicines of use as already discussed are glucosamine, Mecobalamine and analgesic. She should also take medicines to control her diabetes and thyroid as these are also cause of numbness.
Nature of operation-It is a measure operation on spine in which disc and structures pressing on spinal cord and nerve roots are removed to decompress it. If needed spine is also stabilised by rods and screws.
Everything else already discussed.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.

Consider for operation if no relief from medicines.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
Physiotherapy helpful in relieving back pain but it has not much role in reducing numbness. Numbness is reducing by avoiding long standing. Neurotropic agents such as Mecobalamine is helpful in reducing numbness.Diabetic also contribute to numbness so keeping diabetes under control also reduces numbness indirectly. There is risk of infection and as it is a operation on spine ( vertebral column) so rarely nerves may get damaged and permanent numbness supplied by that nerve is there. According to me if she get relief by medicines then operation should be avoided. Operation is last to be considered. If no relief from medicones then operation is to be considered. You can discuss with your doctor about it.
