What Does Positive ANA And Presence Of Thyroid Antibodies Mean?
Question: Positive ANA with thyroid antibodies 353. What does this mean
Brief Answer:
Auto immunity
Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern.
Positive ANA and Thyroid antibodies ( TPO antibody and Anti TG) are suggestive of presence of autoimmunity. It is important to know the levels. Small quantities of these antibodies may be presnet in normal individuals as well. However, if they are present in big quantities, that means that, there are chances of autoimmune hypothyroidism ( hashimoto's ) in the future. It is unclear why an ANA was done. Did she ever had joint pains, undiagnosed fever or rashes in body??
