What Does Red Lump On The Armpit Indicate?
Question: I am a male and I have a dark red lump size of nickel under my armpit for 2 weeks now. What could this be? I also had a cortisone shot in this area 2 and a half weeks ago.

- Was the Cortisone shot given through the present lesion you have shown in the picture ?
- Why was it given?
The picture shows that the dermis that is the skin itself has an edema and redness. This indicate an infection and this may be just an erysipelas.
A course of an antibiotic may clear it up.
If the shot of cortisone was given through this area, it can be still the same and the needle puncture cause the infection, treatment remains same.
