
What Does "scattered Vascular Calcification" Mean?

Question: I've been told I have scattered vascular calcification. my cholesterol levels are good: 175 total, hdl 63, ldl 102 my ldl-p is 1010 and the size is 21.6. I have low vitamin D's 20 and low density bones does this have anything to do with my calcification. I smoked 24 years ago.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. As your lipid profile is within normal limit's I do not think you will need statin.
There is known association with low Bone mineral density (BMD), low vitamin D level with vascular calcification (atherosclerosis).
Just talk to your doctor regarding drug alendronate to correct BMD along with vitamin D supplementation beside life style modification.
