Posted on Fri, 8 Aug 2014
Question: My husband is 210 lbs measures 5 6 in. He developed a small round ball beneath his jawbone and neck. Painful to the touch, hurts him to move his neck, talk, eat. Slightly getting more inflamed. What is this? Glands? Thyroid? Should we seek medical help. Or is this an infection. Can it be treated with amoxicillin and ibuprofen ? Please advice. No medical hx all. Healthy

Brief Answer:
Not a thyroid disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I have gone through your query; it suggests that your husband may be suffering from the Ludwigs angina not a thyroid disease.
If your husband having much difficulty in swallowing then better to go for injectable antibiotics and fluides.
But for better diagnosis and exclusion of the other disease your husband may go for USG neck and send the snap of that swelling to me or consult the ENT specialist.

Thanks
