What Does Spotting After Taking Mifisprostone And Mifigest Indicate?

Question: I am 6 wks preg. I took 1 mifisprostone and had some spotting. I took 4 mifigest under to tongue for 30 min then swallowed. An hour later I threw up & had diarrhea. NO bleeding since then. Did it not work??
Help!!

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) Above said clinical features (vomiting, diarrhea etc) are due to side effect of the abortion pills which you have mentioned in your text.

2) Drink more water with ORS or ELECTRAL powder (if available) or take home made salt-sugar water.

3) It is too early to know if the pill worked. Well, in most people it takes 12 to 24 hours to develop cramps and bleeding. So I suggest you to await at least 12 to 24 hrs to get abdominal cramp and bleeding.

4) If pain or bleeding DOESN'T start even after 24 hrs, you need to consider the next option which will be to consult a local gynecologist for Re-assessment of the case. It will be also helpful in emergency purpose.
