What Does The MRI Scan Report Indicate?
Recommended 3.0T MRI scan if available
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Having seen images of shoulder acquired by MRI machines using magnets of various strengths, it is best if you can get the shoulder scan done in a facility having MRI machine with 3.0 T magnet. The soft tissue borders will be better seen and it will be clearly seen if the involved tendon is having a partial or complete tear.
The infection requires attention at the moment and the fusibacterium nucleatum must be treated and cleared from his system.
Given an opportunity for my patients, I will always recommend getting scanned in a 3.0T machine to do imaging evaluation of a shoulder.
Research has been done in the past on the ability of a 3.0T MRI machine to pick up shoulder problems and it has been seen that MRI of the shoulder at 3.0 T is highly sensitive and specific in the detection of full-thickness and partial-thickness supraspinatus tendon tears. Supraspinatus is one of the tendons in the shoulder and this applies to other tendons in the shoulder.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
