What Does The Brain MRI Report Indicate?
Here are my results:
Exam: MRI of brain, combined.
Indication: 27-year-old female with headaches, vague neurologic
complaints, possible MS.
Comparison: None available.
Technique: Preinfusion sagittal T1, FLAIR, axial T1, T2, T2*GRE,
FLAIR, DWI, coronal T2 and postinfusion axial, coronal and sagittal
T1 sequences were obtained.
Findings: MRI shows no signs of demyelinating disease, mass, brain
edema, acute or chronic CVA, recent or old hemorrhage, AVM,
hydrocephalus or extraaxial fluid collection. There are no enhancing
lesions. Diffusion sequence is normal. Normal brainstem, cerebellum
and craniocervical junction. No evidence of pituitary mass or
parasellar lesion. Major arterial flow voids are patent.
There is a small retention cyst in the left maxillary sinus
inferiorly and mild mucoperiosteal thickening along inferior aspects
of maxillary sinuses. There are no paranasal sinus fluid levels.
Mastoid regions show a normal very low signal intensity.
THANK YOU!
MRI findings suggests almost normal findings.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have gone through your findings in detail.MRI findings suggests almost normal findings except a small retention cyst in the left maxillary sinus and mild mucosal thickening in maxillary sinus.
MRI brain findings are normal. There is no evidence of demyelinating plaque which may suggest multiple sclerosis. So,findings are negative for multiple sclerosis.
Brain parenchyma appears normal. There are no signs of hemorrhage(blood),mass, edema, blood vessel abnormality(AVM),signs of old or recent infarction(due to decreased blood supply) etc in brain.
Pituitary and suprasellar region of brain are also normal.
Blood vessels in brain are also patent which is also a normal finding.
A small retention cyst in the left maxillary sinus and mild mucousal thickening in maxillary sinuses are due to changes of chronic sinusitis. These are minor findings and you may only need conservative treatment of sinusitis.
In short, findings are almost normal. There is no need to be worried about MS(multiple sclerosis).
Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
Further queries are most welcome.
