Brief Answer:
Impaired oxygen supply of brain.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
These brain MRI findings correspond to lesions of brain that are result of impaired oxygen supply.
In your son's case, probably the lungs didn't provide sufficient oxygen to the brain, and, unfortunately this is a serious condition for the actual health status and for the future.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

The hospital have said its moderate damage and they wont know.long term effects until.he starts developing. Is this the case with brain damage and can lesions be fatal?
Brief Answer:
Yes, there is brain damage.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
Yes, there is brain damage temporary lack of oxygen, but, since your son's Doctors said it is a moderate damage, I don't think these brain damages are fatal.
Problems with developing cannot be excluded at this time.
Respiratory function is the main issue to deal right now, because respiratory compromise may worsen the actual brain damages.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards.
