What Does The Following Blood Test Report Indicate?
Now I am very much fine after taking the suggested medication from doctor.
Doc asked me to take a CBP and consult again after a week where I am out city and can't make it. I got my CBP report done and attached the same here.
Please go through and suggest.
My doubt is with "RBC: Normocytic Hypochromic, anisocytosis(+)"
Let know if this is normal or I have to undergo any medication.
Thank you.
As detailed below.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history, report of CBC well and understood your concerns.
Your report shows normal RBC count of 5.22 yet the hemoglobin of 11.7 is below normal and RBC showing Normocytic Hypochromic, anisocytosis(+)
This means the following:
Normocytic means of normal size.
Hypochromic: Hypo means less and Chromic is for color - this means that the color of the RBC is less than it should have been.
Anisocytosis if for the variety in shapes of the red blood cells .
Hence although the the size is normal RBCs are of paler color and of different shapes and sizes but within normal limits.
This goes in accordance with the history of bleeding as a cause of this picture.
This will recover soon.
I would advise you to get the Iron, ferritin and iron binding capacity of the blood and can help to know whether you need a long term iron supplements.
Folic acid and multivitamins are also to be taken to enhance the normal picture as soon as possible.
I hope this simplifies to your understanding, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
Can you please suggest the medication to be taken please. I mean a prescription.
Thank you for the help.
Regards,
XXXX
