What Does The Following Hip X-ray Report Indicate?
There are advanced degenerative changes of the right hip with significant joint space loss, subchondral sclerosis and cystic changes, and osteophytes.
I have been referred for an MRI and an Orthopedic Surgeon, however my appointments are not until October 18th for the MRI and November 7th for the Surgeon. My question is, can I do damage to my hip by continuing normal activities such as house cleaning, walking etc.? The more I do the more it hurts but I just need to know if I'm causing damage to my hip. Thanks for your help!
Daily activities will not harm you.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The X-ray of the hip is suggestive of osteoarthritis of hip with degenerative changes. There is no bone injury. Daily activities like walking and house cleaning will not add to the damage. Do avoid all the extremely painful activities. Do take mild pain killers, hot compress the area and apply a local analgesic gel over it. Continue with the physical therapy to preserve the muscle strength and joint movements.
I hope this answers your query.
