Question: i had an MRI done on my left knee on Sunday. I was told that there was fluid on the knee and Physical Therapy would correct this. My question is can this be corrected without being drained at first or at all?

Brief Answer:
Can be corrected in certain circumstances

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Usually collection of fluid in the knee can be due to infection, inflammation, trauma and arthritis.

In your case, if you have knee pain and restriction of movement, it is possible you have arthritis. But your MRI would mention arthritic condition if present.

Kindly upload your MRI Report.

If there is no pain but only fluid, then it need not be drained. Fluid is required to be drained only if it is of large quantity or I'd it needs to be sent for testing to find the cause.

I suggest you go through a round of physical therapy and take the medication. If the swelling reduces and the knee feels better, then you can avoid getting it drained. If the swelling isn't reducing or is increasing, you can get it drained and tested for arthritic causes.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
