What Does The Presence Of A Chemical Smell In The Nose Indicate?
Question: I smell a chemical smell constantly. nothing can cover it up. very annoying and sickening
Brief Answer:
sinuses/MRI of brain
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Probably the most common cause of an abnormal smell is sinus infections or problems so seeing an ENT physician to rule that out may be an option. It is rare but brain lesions can also affect the smell so I suggest that you talk to your local doctor about this and perhaps get an MRI of your brain. The other thing you might consider having checked out is tonsil stones. These form in some people in the crypts of tonsils and may also result in a bad smell. Some medications can also cause an altered sense of taste so if you take any prescription medications ask your doctor if this may be the cause.
Good luck to you in finding the cause
