What Does The Ultrasound Report During 8 Weeks Of Pregnancy Suggest?
Subchorionic bleed
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. The ultrasound report of your sister is normal except a rim of subchorionic collection around the gestational sac. Subchorionic collection or hematoma is the accumulation of blood within the folds of the chorion (the outer fetal membrane, next to the placenta) or within the layers of the placenta itself. These bleeds, or clots, can cause the placenta to separate from the uterine wall if they get too large, if they develop in a bad spot, or if they aren’t eventually reabsorbed.
However, in your sister's case, it is not very large in size, so do not worry so much.It is likely to get reabsorbed with time.
In such case, she should restrict her activity, avoid heavy and strenuous work, and avoid any sexual intercourse. She should also be given progesterone support in form of capsules or injections, and hCG injections should be given to support pregnancy. She should also have ultrasound after 2 weeks to assess the size of subchorionic bleed.
I would suggest her to consult an OBGYN specialist to be appropriately treated.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
