Question: My wife has been suffering from slurred speech since last one year. She is 58 years old. After several visit, the neuro physician recommended CET scan with contrast of chest to rule out thymoma. I did the CT scan at 7 hill hospital XXXXXXX yesterday and the Impression says " A few enlarged Non Necrotic homogeneously enhancing Lymph nodes are seen in the right paratracheal region Largest Lymph node measures 12 mm in short axis. No other significant abnormality seen." What does this mean. Thank You

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. The slurring of speech could be due to an old cerebrovascular accident (stroke) and that can be confirmed by a CT scan of the brain. However, even without knowing the cause, the management would be speech therapy. You need to get in touch with a SLP (speech and language pathologist) for the same.

I am not sure of the reason that the doctor has suggested for a CET scan of the thorax but he must have had definite valid reasons for the same. It seems that there had been some infection (could be tuberculosis) earlier and the infection has healed by getting contained in the lymph nodes and necrosis of the lymph nodes thereafter. It is hard to comment definitively without a careful clinical correlation.
