What Does This LFT Report Indicate?

Question: Hi,

I had a liver function test last Thursday as part of an annual physical. My Bun/Creatinine ratio came back at 21, my chloride was a little low, my AST was 47 and my ALT was 66.

I workout 7 days a week (crossfit, weigh training and running) and exercised heavily for about an hour the morning of the test. I also took ibuprofen for a few days before the physical.

I am not overweight, do not drink. Do I need to be concerned?

Brief Answer:
No need to be concerned.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

The ration BUN/Creatinine is withing normal limits.
Chloride may result low if you have drank a lot of fluids, and a little changes are not problematic because those values vary a lot.
The AST and ALT may be a little high for the lab normal values, but those are not problematic at all. If they are higher then 200, then we can say that there is something stretching the liver.

So I will say that you don't need to be concerned.
Congratulations on your lifestyle.
Keep going.

Hope this is helpful.
