What Does This MRI Of Lumbosacral Spine Report Indicate?

I got my MRI Lumbosacral Spine + Whole Spine Screening
The following are the findings
At L4-L5 level : Diffuse disc bulge indenting the cal sac mildly enroaching bilateral neural foramina however not abutting exitimg nerve roots
Rest of the lumbosacral vertebral bodies show normal marrow signal
The facet joints are normal
Rest of intervertebral discs are normal
The spinal cord is normal
No abnormal soft tissue is seen
No bony canal stenosis is noted
My physician has said not to worry and just control the body weight
Is the above a serious concern or can be treated with medicines and bringing down body weight
Nothing to worry, follow the advice properly
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The MRI spine is showing displaced disc atone level which is not causing any problematic compression of canal or roots.
At this age the cause of back pain is usually muscular and less commonly disc related.
For treatment and prevention of progression or deterioration you need to follow some advice strictly.
1) avoid lifting heavy objects or carrying any heavy object overhead.
2) Avoid stooping forward.
3) Try not to sit in squatting position.
4) Regular back strengthening exercises as advised by physiotherapist .
5) Take short term pain killers with muscle relaxant if pain severe.
In most cases disc will go back in its normal position.
Loosing weight with appropriate body mass index will be helpful.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
