What Does This MRI Report Indicate?
I had lesions on mri with ms like symptoms which caused need for spinal tap... Not sure i understand what result is here with lymphocytes and histiocytes present not appearing malignant
Simple result: non-cancerous, meaning no cancer cells found
Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The result in simple and easy terms is that it does not show any signs of cancer or spread of cancer from any other part of the body to the spinal fluid.
Lymphocytes and histiocytes are types of cells, which indicate conditions like infections and so on, and are usually not present in the spinal fluid (so they are rare); but they are not cancer cells and so the term 'benign' was used, which means non-cancerous.
So the result basically says that a few rare cells were found in the spinal fluid, but they should not cause any cause for concern or raise any alarms, and also there were no cancer cells found. It does not report any relation to the lesions found, but the report does help to rule out those lesions to be cancerous.
I hope my response makes things a little more clear for you. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
Best wishes.
