What Does This MRI Report Indicate?
ANY AYURDEVIC TREATMENT FOR THIS PAIN. KINDLY GUIDE ME.
Suggestive ankle sprain.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
I can understand your concern.
From the history and the result of the MRI, it appears that you have sustained ankle sprain (talofibular ligament tear).
The initial treatment of talofibular ligament tear (ankle sprain) is to reduce the inflammation & the swelling.
The RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) method can help address each of these needs.
1. Rest:
A brace or splint will keep the ankle in a safe position, helping you avoid more strain to the sore area. In severe cases, you may require a pair of crutches to limit weight through the foot.
2. Ice: Cold therapy, in the form of an ice pack to be applied to the injured area for 15-20 minutes can aid in slowing the inflammatory process and in limiting pain.
3. Compression: An elastic wrap can compress the sore area, keeping the swelling to a minimum.
4. Elevation: Keeping the ankle elevated above the level of your heart will help drain the extra fluid (edema) and reduce swelling.
For the pain and the swelling, Anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac are to be taken along with Pantoprazole (to prevent stomach acidity).
Range of motion exercises:
As healing gets underway, it is important to begin a series of movement exercises for the range of motion. At first, you’ll work on simply bending and straightening the ankle. These exercises will keep the ankle from becoming stiff.
Crutches will prevent weight bearing. A physical therapist help is very much required to regain the full function of your ankle.
Healing of the ligaments usually takes about 6 weeks. The swelling may be present for several months.
Hope the suggestions given above could be useful to you.
Best wishes.
NSAID gels and creams are effective in reducing the pain.

Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Thanks for your reply, noted the contents.
In order to avoid the stomach related acidity problems caused by most of the anti-inflammatory drugs, topical (locally applied) gels or sprays of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Voveran emulgel (Diclofenac), or Piroxgel (Piroxicam) or Nizer gel (Nimesulide) are preferred and hence can be used.
In most of the cases RICE method with physiotherapy will hasten the process of healing and hence fast recovery. If these measures are not successful, then surgical repair (operation) may be required.
Delayed repair (operation) may also be required if there is chronic mechanical instability like unstable ankle, dislocation or associated fractures.
In this regard a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon is recommended.
Hope this answers your query.
Best regards.
They can be applied without friction.
