What Does This MRI Report Indicate?
His MRI stated that the images were grossly normal but the ADC images there appears to be increased signal around the posterior horn of both lateral ventricles. We don't meet with the neuro until next month. Can you shed some light on what this actually means?
Hypoxic changes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Babinsy sign after age of two years and hypertrophic muscles indicate an upper motor neuron disfunctional.
ADC signal high found in brain MRI, indicates ischemic stroke, or small hypoxic changes.
It is possible that these hypoxic changes affected the neurons that supply inferior limbs, neurons that pass adjacent to posterior horns.
Hypoxia ( or lack of oxygen ), can happen during birth or later in life and brain cells are particularly vulnerable to it.
A good thing is that MRI didn't show any serious brain lesions that may affect upper motor neurons.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.
