What Does This MRI Scan Report Indicate?

My name is XXXX. I am from XXXXXXX My mother had pain & numbness in both her wrists. Her age is 57. She was suggested to get MRI Scan done. She is having pain in the nape of her neck. Could you please give the treatment for this problem. THANK YOU
Possibility of carpal tunnel syndrome or cervical radiculopathy
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Age related degenerative changes in spine usually occurs with increasing age. The Mri changes can be a cause of neck pain but restricted pain and numbness in both hands distal to wrist is less likely.
Another possibility may be carpal tunnel syndrome presenting as pain and numbness in hands involving thumb and next to fingers. The symptoms are more in night.
Nerve conduction test can be done.
Blood sugar and Thyroid profile should be done
Is there any joint disease?
Treatment includes physiotherapy with pregabalin or amitryptiline.
Intra-articular steroid injection and surgical procedure is also available.
Get evaluated by a neurologist for possibility of carpal tunnel syndrome.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

We got the conduction test done earlier.
Result: Motor Conduction study of the nerves sampled showed mildly prolonged distal latency in left median nerve.
Sensory conduction study of the nerve sampled showed mildly reduced conduction velocity in left median nerve.
The study is suggesting left median neuropathy left wrist (left) CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome).
Thyroid Test Results:
T3: 1.3
T4: 8.3
TSH: 1.8
Blood Sugar Test Results:
Fasting : 97
No she does not have any joint disease. She is having a lot of pain in the nape of the neck. She is not able to sleep properly. She is already taking Gabapin NT and multi vitamin tablets.
Kindly advice.
Get treatment modified for carpal tunnel syndrome
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As discussed earlier, the Ncv changes are suggestive of carpal tunnel syndrome.
The drug dosage can be increased. A short course of steroid can be taken. Steroid injection can be given at wrist for releif.
Surgical procedure for carpal tunnel syndrome is also available.
For neck pain physiotherapy can be done regularly.
