What Does This X-ray Report Indicate?
Question: An xray (attached) revealed a calcified mass. Follow up CT said mass not visual-most likely fecalith. I have severe pain and cramps/spasms abdomimal. Whats next
Brief Answer:
I prefer Diagnostic Laparoscopy.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I saw the pic.
It looks like a mass with calcification.
I have seen many cases of faecolith, mostly causing Appendicitis. It doesn't look like that.
I prefer to do Laparoscopy, see the lesion and come to a conclusion. If it is freely XXXXXXX and resectable, I'd prefer to remove the lesion and send for histopathological examination.
For abdominal pain, I prescribe tablet containing Dicyclomine twice daily.
Please consult a Laparoscopic surgeon, get examined and proceed accordingly.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
I prefer Diagnostic Laparoscopy.

Is it suprising the mass isnt visual with CT? Is there a chance it could have been fecal matter that I passed?
Brief Answer:
It could be a possibility.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
A large faecolith should be seen in CT scan.
If it is a feacolith and is not seen in CT,it might have passed per rectally.
You can ask for an Ultrasound abdomen where there is no radiation. It can give a clue or repeat Plain xray abdomen.
Wish you good health.
Regards
It could be a possibility.
