Diagnosed With High Fecal Impaction. Is There Any Immediate Solution?
hi iI was diagnosed by a drink on Monday with a high fecal impaction . I iI was experiencing severe nausea and cramping. I since Tuesday iI have been taking mirralax and a suppository once a day and have restricted my diet to only liquids. iI have also tried an enema. nothing has come out but liquid however some of the cramping has resolved. iI really want this impaction resolved and am not making any progress. I should iI go to the er or are they going to send me home with more laxatives? is there an immediate solution to the high impaction?
Thanks for posting,
If the condition is that high ( fecaloma or fecalith or fecal impaction) then the only immediate solution is disimpaction digitally or with catheter. Distal or sigmoid, fecalomas can often be disimpacted digitally or by a catheter which carries a flow of disimpaction fluid (water or other solvent or lubricant). But gradual medical treatment is a better alternative and since with the previous treatment you are no longer feeling cramping this means your stools are getting softer. But if this fails then you will have to go through the surgical procedure which of course comes with its complications. You will be required to see a surgeon for this.
Hope this helps
