Feeling Constipated For Days. No Help After Laxatives. Eating Healthy, Drinking Plenty Of Water
I have been constipated for five days now. At first I tried natural remedies but the last two nights I took laxatives and still nothing. I m eating right and drinking plenty of water. I think it was caused by some pain killers I was on for back pain . But I stopped them 3 days ago. It s set uncomfortable I m cramping lots but only passing gas.
It is very possible that you have impacted feces or fecaloma or fecalith. If the condition is severe taking excess water or soft food or laxatives would not help. You will need a surgeon to examine you for fecalith and probably proceed with disimpaction digitally or with a catheter. Be warned that it is an invasive procedure that usually requires anesthesia, but be rest assured that you will get relieve after wards. Complications that may arise from your present situation if not treated in time is intestinal obstruction.
An abdominal scan maybe needed to find out the actual cause of the constipation as other possible causes could be responsible such as gut tumors, infection, IBS etc.
Hope this helps
