What Does This Biopsy Report Showing Intramucosal Adenocarcinoma Indicate?
Question: What does biopsy showing polypoid mucosa with features suggestive of intramucosal adenocarcinoma mean? What needs to be done for this?Do we need a surgery?
Brief Answer:
not necessarily
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Intramucosal carcinoma means that cancer has developed but still limited to the most superficial lining. Hence if the biopsy was done with clear margins, further surgery may not be required.
However, if there is doubt regarding cancer free margins, we need another surgery, which may also be done endoscopically.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for helping out doctor!
I would like to know what stage of cancer is this? I couldnt find anything related to staging of cancer in the biopsy report.
If not a surgery what other options do i have and how soon should i get it done?
Will it start spreading to other parts of the body?
Do i require a chemotherapy/ radition kind of treatements?

Brief Answer:
this is precancer not cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hence the stage is '0'
As I said if the margins are clear then nothing may be required. Otherwise surgery, either open or even endoscopic re-resection. Should be done early if at all required.
No chance of spread and no need for chemo or radio
