Detailed Answer:
Hi & Welcome.
I appreciate your concerns for your beloved father.
I have gone through the history given along with the results of lab tests.
1. His cholesterol level is high, therefore Lipvas (Atorvastatin) is prescribed which is effective in lowering blood cholesterol & thus prevents the atherosclerosis (deposition of fat in the blood vessels) responsible for heart disease and stroke.
2. Blood glucose both fasting (before food) & post prandial (after food) is within normal limit.
3. His BP seems to be high and hence uncontrolled with Aten-AM (Amlodipine+ Atenolol). So, he needs some additional medicine like Hydrochlorthiazide to lower his high BP.
I think you have given only reading of his BP i.e. systolic 160-170 mm Hg, what about the other reading diastolic?
But the most important thing is he MUST stop smoking, since he has been smoking for the past 20 yrs or so, smoking itself can increase the BP so, he should stop it once for all.
He should also follow certain lifestyle modifications such as avoiding fatty meals, doing regular exercise (morning or evening walk) for about 30 minutes,
increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables, and decreasing the body weight if overweight.
4. Nurokind (Mecobalmine) tab is used to treat painful nerve conditions.
5. Anxinill (Alprazolam) is used to treat lack of sleep or anxiety.
For his medication to lower BP, he is advised to consult his treating physician.
Hope this answers your query.
