What Does This Blood Report Indicate?
Question: I recently had my blood tests done and my eosinophil count was
Eosinophil (Differential Leucocyte Count) : 17.80 whereas the specified limit is 1-6.
Eosinophil (Absolute Leucocyte Count) :1.48 whereas the specified limit is 0.02-0.5
What could be the reason for such high count?

Brief Answer:
A high eosinophil count is normally a sign of allergy.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX welcome to HCM,
A high eosinophil count is normally a sign of allergy.
Sometimes it can be due to a reaction to worm infestation.
It can also be due to a condition called tropical eosinophilia. There are special drugs for it.
It can very rarely be due to a type of cancer.
It can be present without symptoms, or with stomach problems, or with sneezing or with cough.
If you have any of these problems they should be treated.
A stool examination for worms can be done.
Regards

Brief Answer:
I would first suggest a course of Monteleukast with Fexofenadine
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I would first suggest a course of Monteleukast with Fexofenadine for two weeks and if that does not bring down the eosinophil count----
a course of Hetrazan or Banocide for two weeks could benefit you.
I would like you to take these medications under your doctor's supervision.
Wishing you speedy recovery. Regards
