What Does This Chest X-ray Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Dec 2016
Question: I had a PA and lateral CXR yesterday. It resulted normal per the radiologist's report, with the exception of chronic, mild interstitial findings in the middle and lower lungs bilaterally. Please refer to the attached CXR. I am a never smoker. I do experience occasional DOE. What should I do next? See a pulmonologist? Have a high resolution CT scan of my chest? Undergo pulmonary function testing? I do not have insurance. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Please consult pulmonologist and get lung function tests done

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

If there is a normal chest xray with mild interstitial findings in mid and lower zones then there is a possibility of diffuse lung disease and high resolution CT scan of the lungs might help. However before getting the HRCT lungs you need to discuss your DOE with a pulmonologist and get lung function tests done.

Since your age is 55 years, it is advisable to get a basic heart check up done.

Hope your query is answered.
