What Does This Chest X-ray Report Indicate?
Question: I had a PA and lateral CXR yesterday. Per the radiologist, it was normal with the exception of chronic, mild interstitial findings in the middle and lower lungs bilaterally. I have the disc showing the actual CXR; however, the file is too large to be uploaded. Is there a way I can send it to you? I am a never smoker. I do experience occasional DOE. Should I see a pulmonologist? Should I undergo a HRCT? Should I have PFT's? What should I do first? I have no health insurance, so I want to make sure I keep expenses down to essentials. I appreciate your assistance.
Brief Answer:
Get the investigations done and consult a pulmonologist.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
Though you do not seem to have many symptoms except mild DOE and your chest xray says only mild interstitial changes, but i suggest you should undergo at least a HRCT chest and PFT to rule out Interstitial Lung Disease. You may not need any treatment at present in view of your mild symptoms but do consult a local pulmonologist who can examine you in person along with the investigations and advise you correctly and clear your doubts.
Hope this answers your query and take care.
