Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through.

Based on the history you have shared, and the query, it's basically a term used to explain fluid into the soft tissue spaces and aea of gas exchange inside the lungs. Usually lungs have sufficient area for gas exchange but if it gets filled with fluid, it can cause feeling of air hunger or shortness of breath.

Usually this fluids seeps out of blood vessels due to high tension inside the vessels due to multiple factors, including back pooling of fluid content of blood due to decreased heart functioning, fluid overload in kidney disease, acute infections or blood pressure surges etc and is usually resolved with medications which cause more urine production dumping extra water out.

It's better to have a cardiologist review and get an echo cardiogram, renal functions, thyroid functions urinalysis for protien leak, and if needed a chest CT as part of diagnostic work up.

Meanwhile restriction fluid intake , salt intake, and rest will resolve the issue temporarily and if breathing difficulty is more diuretics and Medical facility ER review should be done.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
