What Does This Hepatitis-B Serology Test Report Indicate?
Question: Hi Dr XXXXXXX
I did hepatitis B serology tests last week and showed the following
HbsAg:negative
HbsAb: positive
HbcAb: postive
HbcIgM: negative
HbeAb: positive
From browsing the internet: I understand that I am exposed to the virus before and it is cleared. I dont remember developping any symptoms or taking any treatmemt. But the lab result mentioned that there is no prior exposure to HbV, I do not know how. To be honest I do not remember if I am vaccinated or no. I have a 2 year old kid. He is vaccinated since birth but also I do not know if my wife recieved the HBV vaccine or no. I am waiting for her results. What are these lab results abo ve mean? And why do you think the lab said no prior exposure and what do you advise me to do?
I attached my lab results
Thanks

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1. your serological results means that you are protected from XXXXXXX virus.
The mode of protecting may be due to vaccination or naturally way.
it means that you have been in contact with virus B but you have not been infected but only get protection.
2.Most probably you have done vaccination after birth .
3. There is nothing to be worried since you are not infected with B virus but you are protected from this virus.
Hope it was helpful to you!

Detailed Answer:
Hi
with regards to the lab says , it means that you are not infected meantime and that you are protected from hepatitis B.
The protection from hepatitis B may be to exposure but not causing disease and damage of the liver.
In such cases you develop only protection and not disease.
wish you health
