Thanks for a follow up query and giving me a chance to assist you. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) for your age should normally be less than 30mm/hour. Your's is high, and yes, it is due to the disease process going on there in lungs. Chronic infections cause to raise ESR for example in tuberculosis and a lot more diseases.
ESR is also used to see how the therapy is going on. Once you start your treatment with a pulmonologist, and start healing the lung lesions, your ESR should come down. You may compare this baseline ESR with the new one after the treatment and will get a clue the therapy is going fine.
