What Does This Thyroid Test Report Indicate?

Question: Thyroid Question for an Endo.

I had the following labs done for TSH.

Lab Range is 0.32-4.00

High 6.37 - January 2017 followed by a Thyroid function:

TSH came in again at 5.32 (Upper limit is 4.00)
Thyroxine Free T4 came in at 14 (Lab range is 9-19) within range
Triiodothyronine T3 came in at 3.7 Lab range is 3.1-6.2)


High 4.84 - March 2017

Most recent test TSH at 4.62

Am I sub clinical hypo ? even as my T3 and T4 within range?

I have gone carefully through your concern.
Yes, you have subclinical hypothyroidism.
Subclinical hypothyroidism is diagnosed when TSH is from 4-10 mui/ml and ft4 , ft3 are within the normal ranges.
So, your hormonal result suggests for it.
Rather it needs treatment or not, depends on the age, the presence of clinical symptoms of hypothyroidism, if you have high lipid profile and increased cardiovascular risk.

About hypothyroidism treatment;

Hi again,
There is no need to start levothyroxine if you do not have symptoms of hypothyroidism; weight gain, feeling sleepy, constipation, hair loss, impotence ect.
Check TSH every 6 months.
