Suggest Treatment To Normalize The TSH Level After Thyroidectomy
wife had thyroid removed a few yrs ago. Her thyroxine and triiodothyronine levels are low. Her TSH is 96.3. There is a growth where her thyroid used to be. Over the last yr she has experienced large weight gain and is always cold.

I have read your question completely and understand your concerns.
Your wife's thyroid gland has been removed during surgery and hence she cannot produce thyroid hormones. So she needs those thyroid hormones to be replaced from externally.
Your wife can be started on Levothyroxine, approximately 75-100 mcgs depending on her weight. She needs to take her tablet lifelong and in the morning on an empty stomach. She can recheck her Thyroid function tests in 6-8 weeks and the dose can be altered if needed. As this is a prescription only medication she needs to see her doctor for this.
Once her TSH comes into the normal range her symptoms would settle down.
